Car Broken Into
We woke up this morning to find that my husband's vehicle had been ransacked last night in our driveway. He had left it unlocked, but parked very close to our home/garage door. Given our rush this morning he did not even have a chance to inform police before heading to a work appointment, but of course will do today. From first glances it appears the person(s) tore through the contents of his truck and stole a gun that had been in his vehicle from hunting. I'm sad to think this would happen, but will keep you informed of any updates. If ANYONE saw ANYTHING last night 01.27.10 near W198 S8499 Bendingbrae Drive please let us know by contacting us directly at home 262-679-2793. In the mean time, keep your doors locked and lights on.

Another unlocked pickup truck in a driveway located on Greenhaven was also broken into during the same time period. (They didn't hear anything; just noticed this a.m. when they went to the vehicle.) It appears some cash was stolen out of that one + the counsel was broken. This owner also saw the cops in another driveway on Bendingbrae, near the entrance. They also have a pick-up truck that typically seems to stay out at night.
ReplyDeleteCITY OF MUSKEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
ReplyDeleteNEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM
January 28, 2010
Starting at approximately 12:45am on Thursday, January 28, 2010, the Muskego Police Department started receiving reports that unknown persons had entered unlocked vehicles throughout the city. Between complaints received from victims, and entered vehicles located by our officers, we have had over 20 vehicles entered, and anticipate more will be reported. Many of the vehicles had nothing taken, however several had electronic devices, construction tools, and change taken. In addition, one vehicle had two firearms stolen.
The reported incidents occurred predominantly on the west side of the city. This includes vehicles parked in driveways on Cindy Dr., Victoria Dr. and Valerie Dr. in the Lake Meadows subdivision, Plum Creek Blvd, Bending Brea Dr, Greenhaven Ct. and Woods Rd. near the Plum Creek West subdivision, Jean Dr and Denice Ct N., in the subdivision north of Muskego High School, and the 6600 block of Hillendale Dr. near Mill Valley Elementary School. We believe that the same person(s) committed these thefts, and that they were most likely in a vehicle, given how widespread the thefts are.
We are asking that anyone living in the areas of these thefts report any suspicious activity that they may have observed last night. This can include a suspicious vehicle or person, unusual noises, or anything else that, in retrospect, strikes you as odd or unusual. In addition, if your vehicle was entered, but nothing was taken and you did not report the incident to the police department, please let us know.
Finally, I cannot stress how important it is to remove valuables from your vehicle, even in your own driveway. And always LOCK YOUR VEHICLE! These thefts are thefts of opportunity. Thieves will literally go from car to car until they find one that is unlocked. They will then go in and take anything of value they can. If they find a locked vehicle, they go on to the next one because breaking a window will make too much noise and draw too much attention.
If you have any information that might help us in these investigations, please contact us at the number below.
Thank you,
Lt David Constantineau
